Windy Darling

Phew. Spent way too long on this one. Considered uploading it later, but eh. The sooner I put this up, the sooner I'll beat myself 'round the head toward working on a better piece to display.

Many things I'm fond and extremely unfond of about this. Lumpy face...vague background...crappy bouquet...However, this is my first real independent acrylic painting (independent, meaning something aside from the abstract bullshit and photo-based still lives I did in high school, heh), so I allow myself a small bit of pride regardless.

Constructive criticism always appreciated. I'd love to know what I did right, but also what I did wrong, so I can make my next painting of this character even better.

Also, would anyone be interested in seeing a step-by-step of this? I took progress photos while working on it to motivate myself, so I might slap them all together and put it in my gallery in case anyone's intrigued.

Major tip with acrylic:

MAKE SURE THE PAINT IS FLAT

I can't believe I allowed a ridgey lump of acrylic to dry on his wing. It's a small ridge, but...The potential it had to suddenly turn it into a 3-dimensional painting scares me.
